I remember my lecturer in climate and natural hazards (Dr Doom to his students) saying that the public can't handle more than one disaster story at a time and if there were two or more they would be concatinated in the public mind. At that time the confusion was that global warming was caused by the hole in the ozone layer. Two real problems but not causally related.
Despite all the denials by experts I'll wager that in many minds the asteroid will be seen as the cause of the Russian meteor. As for global warming, it will be blamed for everything from the pope's abdication to drugs in sport.
