Ok so I'm biting the bullet and all going well purchasing/receiving my 8" Dob tomorrow... but it occurred to me that I should check for how best to look after it.
If I'm not mistaken, it is a good idea to keep the top covered when not in use? Would a pillow case or similar be sufficient? Do any other portions need to be covered for best care?
The Dob will be stored in my garage/gym which does also house a lawnmower and whipper snipper... do these pose a threat to the scope?
Any advice on care and maintenance would be appreciated.
Really looking forward to first light... just hope I can move it to a spot to observe (still recovering from a surgical procedure which is limiting my lifting at the moment).
Thanks all for your help and thanks to Screwdriverone for advising to go for the Dob... I'm sure I will be thrilled when I start viewing the sky in detail
