The editing problem seems to be browser dependent. Firefox works as expected, but Konqueror seems to dislike the new setup.
Ah well, I might have to just go with Firefox. Text-only browser does not work as well as it used to either (preserves newlines but does not wrap text so a lot of scrolling for editing/writing paragraphs longer than one sentence).
