While there are a lot of after market camera accessories which work quite well and are a lot cheaper than genuine Canon bits (remote timers spring instantly to mind), batteries are one part that I will never skimp on again. I got an Ebay cheapy for my first camera (1000D) and it was hopeless. Held charge for a fraction of the time of the genuine article and ended up swelling up and getting stuck in the camera.
So my advice is try and find the best price, but make sure you do buy a genuine battery and not some cheap knock off.
