Jupiter 25th Dec. 2012

Well comedy of errors tonight. I slept through culmination by about 1.75 hrs. & so madly set the scope up when Jupiter was about 39 degrees. Tube currents galore, so I threw a wet towel over the OTA, set 2 pedestal fans up & left it for about 30 mins which was luckily long enough to end the convection cycle inside the OTA. This is where I am SO glad I live in the tropics! Would have had no hope down south where I originally hail from.

Seeing was not the best, but I've captured worse..Had bad RA motor jitter for some reason (it's random) so I did a meridian flip which solved that one..Relatively bad ringing on this one; my new gamma setting must coincide with a few other capture settings for it to work, but I was in too much of a hurry to do my usual 'pedantic routine'
