I had another crack at the data again today. Looking at the other images people are posting at the moment (including DP), I find the softer images much easier to look it. This time I used the 1.5x mitchell resample option in Registax, and different (softer) wavelet settings. I think this is a much better looking image all round.

ps. I encourage anyone that is interested in planetry imagery that doesnt currently have all the equipment needed to have a go at this (like me!). It will give you an idea (and a grounding) of what to expect when processing data, and all the steps that are nessary to get a great looking image. It sure takes more effort than I thought it did before having a go (and I only had to deal with the last half of the process!). Next step is to get my own tracking, better barlow, laptop, ToUcam.. ARGH!
