I would like to echo the comments so far. The 8" Dob will provide you with the best compromise of affordability, aperture and portability. The scope that is easy to use, set up & pack away, and has an aperture that will open up the night sky to you will serve you well. There are good secondhand ones available and this can save many dollars that can be put to good use elsewhere (eyepieces, laser collimator, star charts, etc).
Go along to an astro group meeting or observing night.
