This actually peeved me a little. I had "staked out" Bob's Lookout about 3 years ago when I started to make serious plans, only to be told 3 weeks before the event that police would be closing it. So I didn't actually bother driving up there and instead parked the truck at the bottom of the hill and hiked up on the hill itself (not to the lookout).
Shortly after totality I drove up to the lookout just to see what I would have missed ... and there were about 50-100 cars and a couple of hundred people. A lot of them infringing on the road itself
There was a lonely copper going up and down the hill (in a green highway patrol car) a few times before totality, but I didn't see him move anyone on either.
But I think I had a better spot anyway ... about 5 people in cooee!
