wide field tripod shot

While out waiting to observe a comet from a local dark site close to adelaide last week, I messed around with the 350D on a tripod with the 18-55 kit lens (still the only one i have so far).

This is a single 30sec iso 1600 shot with the lens at f5/18mm - I couldnt get it to go any wider, and I now realise its an f3.5 so cant figure that out will come to me eventually I guess?

focused manually with eye - and used the magic finger as a remote.

like so many before me, I am so impressed with this camera - battery didnt flinch - camera stayed cool (I am used to the old nikon P&Sers - you could cook an egg on them after 5 minutes of use LOL) this all despite taking 50 odd shots in dual max jpg/RAW mode - didnt even notice them saving so fast (wow) its like the everready battery - just wants more

also in my experience with film, a shot with a lens at f5 of that duration would turn out looking nearly like a dark frame hehe - so yeah awesomely sensitive - which is no secret of course :p

its nothing special, i guess i am just being a proud parent - you know you love em when their yours :p

have a couple i could stack with a dark frame to match, thats the next project anyway - YAY Canon!
