Saturn from the 8th

Hi guys,

Here's a Saturn I captured on the 8th February, but never got around to processing. I'd processed other avi's of Saturn from that night, but thought I'd extracted the best the night had to offer.

But alas, while bored in a training course today I processed this last avi and it gave me the best result of the lot.

I've done all of the processing, gamma and colour correction on the laptop, so I'm not sure how it will look on a normal LCD/CRT screen. To cover all bases, I've attached 3 different images.

The first one is with minimal post-AstraImage adjustments, whereas the second two have some levels/curves tweaks plus a small size reduction.

This was my last avi of that night, and it seems the seeing had improved over the course of the 5 captures. This one was taken @ 5fps, with the white meter very high around 230. Gamma and gain were both quite high, and the blue channel was very ugly. I need to try out a suggestion on the AM forums where a luminance layer is created using the Red and Green channels, to smooth the image when the blue channel is messed up.

Anyway here they are. Comments welcome, especially if you have a preference of 1 of the 3.
