Questions

Hi all. A couple of years ago I inherited a Meade ETX-125 from a relative and it has pretty much sat around gathering dust since then. Now though, I would like to get involved in some astrophotography. From what I understand I will need a different mount to the one supplied with the telescope. However, I'm wondering if this scope is even able to do what I'd like it to. I would like to image planets which I'm sure it could manage, however, I'd like to image deep space objects too. Could I manage this with the Meade ETX-125? If so, what sort of equatorial mount would be recommended for around $1000 AUD? I'll also need a digital SLR too, what would be the recommended, minimum model? I'm told Canon is the way to go although would I have to get the modification done? Thanks in advance.
