Mark, the lenses in solar/eclipse glasses are small pieces of Baader type film so you could make two filters from a pair. One of the threads has an example of a filter made that way. Be sure you seal around the filter to stop any leakage and that it can't fall off the lens.
I'd expect it might cause some serious vignetting.
