THis is the increasingly common "reality" of ill-informed journalists and their "sources". Mark Colvin from ABC Radio's PM show gave the Andrew Olle Lecture recently and talked about young people sourcing their "news" (=reality) from Twitter, Facebook and whatever "reality" they choose. To blame Tom Bopp for the foolishness of others is serious stuff because it reveals the paucity of current journalism. I know this took place over a decade ago, but examples like this are becoming commonplace. Why? A sheer lack of any understanding of how the world works, an ignorance of causality and a lack of education in the sciences is being seen more and more among those who purport to give punters the "News". Amateur astronomers of the world, be afraid, be very very afraid!!!
