In my short experience (usink dbk21 color) I have used gamma around 50 both when viewing on screen AND recording. Should gamma be set higher than 50 (you mention 100)? Or is that dependent on the camera...

I'm using the Imaging Source DBK618. My exposure times directly relate to what frame rate I use, but before I choose a frame rate, I must consider the seeing, so it does depend a lot on the seeing. Generally for good seeing I would use 30FPS with an exposure of 1/30th-1/38th With roughly a 75% filled histogram with my C11/2X barlow (F20) For 60 FPS (which I use for average-poor seeing I'd be running my fastest exposure with maxed out gain.

I always use 100% gamma which is default or linear. I have experimented with lower gamma but was not happy with the results.
