Very nice work, Mark! Great colours and how lucky we were to get a reasonable Aurora that only clear night at VicSouth.
Normally I would suggest using a higher frame rate to make it smoother, but the aurora looks very interesting this way.
With regards to virtualdub, you may render to uncompressed AVI and then convert to H.264 MP4 file using Freemake Video Converter (
http://www.freemake.com/free_video_converter/ ) and then upload to youtube.
