It is only recently that I've been thinking about a "cheaper" ccd camera and the consensus is that the QHY8/L are the best in the "cheap" category.

Hi John,

Fair enough, but I have not had any frosting issues whatsoever. I typically set the temperature to around -20 during winter or -15 in summer and have had no issues.

At the end of each session, I am always careful to let the camera "warm-up" rather than just turn of the system. As they say..."slow and steady ....."

I have it basically permanently mounted in my insulated shed/observatory, so it is failry constant conditions inside there when not in use.
