A question: Many images show NGC346 as teal or bluish, even when neighbouring regions show more characteristic pink emission (for example here). Anybody know why? I'd guess that it's a mix of pink emission and blue reflection from the hot stars, but it seems to be more the case in this nebula than many others? More dust with the gas?

And thanks for that link, interesting what you pointed out and I don't know, guess I'll have to read up on this. Two other galaxies come to mind for blue/ teal nebulae, NGC 55 and barnards galaxy.

I did some narrowband imaging of NGC 346 at a 1600mm focal length and as well as Ha it emits a lot of OIII... which just happens to be teal coloured.
