I modded a 300D years ago with a Baader filter. As mentioned it is a bit fiddly, and keeping dust at bay can be tricky.
I found the fiddliest bit to be detaching/reconnecting all the ribbon connectors in tight spaces without damaging them.
The services available that do this for you are really quite well priced.
