In most cases it will also mean a larger secondary mirror since otherwise you'll get severe vignetting on the modern large CCD chips.
A large secondary will to some extent degrade the optical performance a bit, so purely speaking a Newtonian optimised for astrophotography is not the optimal visual instrument, but in practice you'll probably not notice any difference when looking in an eyepiece.
