Its a Network HUB, 5 Port USB via a LAN link or even a wireless link if you want, so distance will no longer be a problem.
I have connected it to my system with the hub control centre software and it allows you to connect and disconnect at will from your laptop, seems to work a treat.
I'll soon have a very controllable system that never gets used, dam clouds.
