I was thinking about saving my pennies too for the LX80 but I've seen some very long posts on other forums about all sorts of problems with this new mount, in particular in EQ configuration. It seems it can't really handle the stated loads, more like about half and even then as an EQ imaging platform it still seems to be unstable for clean long exposures. It appears Meade have skipped a bit on the quality control, making some parts thinner than they should be and using plastic gears instead of metal so early adopters seem to be beta testers for meade to iron out the bugs. In altaz configuration it seems to be very good though. I'd avoid jumping on the LX80 (unless you are made of cash, in which case feel free to buy me one too

, wait for it to reach our market and be out in use for a while and see if it lives up to its spec list.
Maybe a meade tube on an eq6 would be a better combo.
