Hi Warren,
Its probably just a clone generic Apple data cable, from the looks of it, it seems that its designed to "convert" a simple USB cable into some sort of Apple interface to connect it to say an IPOD or Gen 1 Ipad etc.
It seems that its simply there for people who may have misplaced their genuine apple data cable and use this to connect to a standard USB cable rather than shell out for a genuine one?
I dont think its any sort of USB peripheral interface or USB socket as such.
