I got turfed by my company a couple of years ago - in a second round (of about 4 rounds) of cuts. I was coalface - my company was not public sector.
Downturn is downturn - I'm sure we don't want to be like Greece is at the moment. Or Spain.
Half the problem now seems to be legacy stuff. Empire builders from the Bligh era gov producing so much red tape that no one wanted to invest in building anything (I'm a civil drafter) because they wanted so much money to 'set up' a block.
If investment dries up, so does everything else - it's called killing the goose.
Bligh killed the goose, now the next government is holding the tattered remains.
Obama has the same problem in USA - Legacy of Bush admin. He's being blamed for Bush's cr*p.
