HDR is not the best way to expose the sky and maintain detail in the foreground. Manually blending a couple of exposures, where you have complete control is one way, or, using neutral density filters (my preferred method) gives the most natural looking image.

At the end of the day, it's what you want the final result to look like -- if this is what you envisioned in your head when you took the image, then, you've achieved your goal.

I really appreciate the feedback Octane I will take it on board and teach myself some blending skills on CS6. The image was not what I envisaged but more so one of my first trial runs at HDR ... all guess work. Could I reproduce it, probably not. Its a steep learning curb but I have my hiking boot on
