Thanks H-G for posting this. Years ago (around 1981) Astronomy magazine ran an article on seeing stars and planets in the daytime - makes an interesting read if you can track it down.

Best daylight naked eye view of Jupiter I got was when it was next to the moon - it was suprisingly easy to see. With an 8" telescope and accurate GOTO I once succeeded in finding mag 6 stars up to an hour before sunset, then as the last rays of sunlight were shining I was able to track down Uranus and Neptune!
