I actually forgot about this close conjunction until when I went outside in the morning to pack away my timelapse gear (trying to capture Perseid meteors) and I noticed how close they were together.
I quickly setup the mount (no alignment- just plonked it down) and telescope and started snapping some images. Getting the Moon and a planet in the same telescope field of view has been a goal of mine ever since I first got the scope.
Two image composite: One single frame for The Moon and Jupiter and another single overexposed frame to show up the moons of Jupiter.
