And I guess it could be seen as that too. ie collecting friends for the sake of it.
Again, it all depends on your motives. I'm a self professed FB tart. If someone asks to "friend" me, and they're into science and astronomy, no problems. I'm all for the online geek fest. There are so many interesting people who want to share their passion of science. It's a cornucopia of knowledge being shared and I'm feasting.

And cats....there's always lots of cute photos of cats too. It's worth it just for that alone.
