Thanks Marc. Port Douglas for me will primairly be a holiday! Scuba-Diving on the reef, eat, drink, be merry!

If it's clear on eclipse morning I'm pretty sure I'll be using a 500mm F4 Canon lens on a 5DMkIII.

Not tempted to go very narrow, as the corona is the main show IMHO.

The game-changer for me is Losmandy's StarLapse..which means I can use heavy cameras and lenses but not have to cart half a tonne of gear across the country. My Lybia rig did not track. The Port Douglas one will have: lower noise, better res, and will track...so all things being equal, should deliver sharper results.
