Thanks Dennis Yeah you get out of the Sydney lightdome pretty quick at sea past the heads the sky is still pretty clear and you can see stars right down to the sea level. It's that sharp it almost looks fake.

Although I found the further offshore north the more clouds and humidity in the air. The local skies transparency is much much better than any sky in the islands. It was darker yeah but transparency was very bad around the coral sea.
