With the deep sky category attracting the far greatest numbers of entries I suggest that the Deep Sky category be broken down into Galaxies, Nebulae, Globulars and Narrowband.
Especially considering the techniques and approaches for each of these is somewhat different.
This then gives the competition a broader appeal and balance and keeps its astronomy roots firmly intact.
It could even solicit an additional sponsor who sells telescopes/CCD cams/mounts.
The Ice in Space calendar shows a good balance of different types of astro shots as a good example.
