Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Pleiades, Hyades, NGC1647, Ceres, Vesta and Metis

Hello,
I’ve just finished off identifying and labelling some of the more interesting objects in this two panel mosaic of the recent dawn gathering of the Moon, Venus, Jupiter, Pleiades, Hyades, NGC1647 and the minor planets Ceres, Vesta and Metis. Oh, not forgetting the eye of the bull – Aldeberan!

Due to an uncooperative tree line, I was imaging from the lounge window with just the Canon 7D mounted on my Tak EM200. There are two frames, made up of 10x10sec exposures and have been processed to minimise the horizon glow and the effects of the top of the window frame nebula that gradually drifted into the camera FOV as time rolled on!

Details:
  • Monday, 16th July 2012, 5:06am to 5:18am
  • Canon 7D with Canon 60mm F2.8 macro lens.
  • Manual exposure, 10 secs, F5.6, ISO400
  • 10 frames aligned in ImagesPlus and finished in CS5
Cheers
Dennis
