yep it is the Meade Cometracker. Digital imaging never existed when it was built, and its makers could not imagine how hard digital imaging would puch such inexpensive optics. A mate when travelling in the US bought one for himself and I, about $300 USD each brand new. The only major issue I have with it is the corrector plate isnt IR coated, just uncoated green plate glass, the primary is only plate glass too, and mark Sutching one looked through it at an old Mt kaputar astrocamp and said it was a little over corrected. It isnt too bad and shows pretty good vision at high magnification.
Yep it would be good under a dark sky, when I take my mum to Gloucester to visit relos might have to swing it on a new moon and take the rig with me, my aunt's backyard is very dark.
