It was either a meteor coming at you head on or an Iridium Flare.
If you go to
http://www.heavens-above.com/ sign up, log in, plug in your co ordinates, go to the section on Satellites and it has a section on Iridium Flares. You can even bring up Flares from the previous 48hrs.
