Nice work Justin.
No lightning trigger needed.
Just mount the camera on a tripod, set it to manual mode and select the longest shutter speed you can (30s I think).
You may need to pick an ISO/aperture combination that doesn't overexpose, particularly if there is street lighting nearby.
In a decently active storm you'll get many strikes in the one exposure, if it's a relatively quiet storm you might get a few shots with nothing, but eventually you'll get the money shot.
A cheap(~$15) chinese remote trigger/timer from ebay will let you expose for longer in bulb mode. I've often done 5min long lightning exposures.
