mmm, I tried this today with almost the same equipment:
Canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 L
Televue Nagler 13mm
Televue Barlow 2x
Unfortunately it doesn't focus any further away than about 30 metres. The Powermate must be a bit different in it's optical lengths.
I also tried it with TV Plossl's, same deal.
Tried moving the eyepiece in and out, still no better focus. Oh well....
