Umm, I acknowledge I don't know the rules as well as professionals involved in the sport. That's why I didn't offer my take on any rule itself, just pointed out that there are professional referees that do know them back to front. It's not like it was a snap decision made on the spot like in the old days before they went to the video. It was scrutinised several times from every camera angle available by professional referees.

Quite often the comments I've heard him make are criticisms against the rules, ie he doesn't agree with them. But the refs are bound by them, unlike his mouth.
