The images were taken without either spacer. You are of course correct astroboy, the next step is to try the recommended spacer. I had made a reducer/flattener from a 40mm dia 320mm FL achromat which works quite well with the 20D but vignettes with the 5DH.

I did not bother to try the spacer last night as conditions were not good. There was smoke due to the bushfires and haze and seeing was so bad even Sirius was flickering.

I was so amazed how well the FR was working under the conditions that I just took some pictures of the usual suspects.

Thanks Scott the vignetting is caused by the 80ED and not the FR. I thought I would put unprocessed images up so the comparison would be unbiased.

I am hoping to be able to work out the optimum spacer (if possible) to see how this Hutech FR performs with my Tal 200k as a field flattener. The size of the 5DH sensor shows up any field curvature if present that was not noticeable with the 20D.

The fact that this reducer can be adjusted with a spacer to optimise it to suit the focal length of any refractor from 500mm to 800mm makes it a worthwhile if somewhat expensive buy.
