I actually received a scam via snail mail, and I must say it was extremely well done. It was a plain envelope with a dodgy 'cheap' looking address label on it, but inside, printed in high res on glossy paper was the 'brochure' along with 2 very professionally done scratch tickets. One of the 'scam' tells was that you could actually read the message under the scratch panel if you held it at the right angle. It was a Travel company in Malaysia celebrating their 7th birthday and this was their way of celebrating. There were heaps of prizes on offer, Cash, Holidays, etc. One of the conditions of claiming a prize (Oh, I had one $150,000US by the way, one of only 2 of those prizes that were sent out worldwide) was fully disclosing all personal details that were asked. They had a very professional and believable Website and the company had allegedly won all these top awards, but when I googled 'Award winning Malaysian Travel Agency', there was not one reference to them. The final 'tell' was I had never been one of their customers, nor had I ever traveled through Malaysia before... It will suck alot of people in though. I am generally VERY skeptical about these things and can see a scam a mile off, but I will admit, this one had me sitting on the fence a while...
