Agreed great show both Season 1 and 2. I just finished the last book he wrote Dance with Dragons which I guess would be season 5. The series is based on the books and very true to them in almost every detail.
One word of warning. This show and books do not give any regard to the reader or watchers attachment to characters. Characters that seem integral to the story are killed off without warning reasonably often. Sure keeps it interesting.
