A flare and the new Active Region - 6 May 2012

Hello all,

I must say I am getting a tad frustrated with the seeing conditions of late - well the fact that it rained for a month was not cool but when the Sun has been out it looks like I am looking through a waterfall!
I imaged today and although I am always pleased to capture stuff I am not overly impressed with the final products.

The stuff I captured today was AR 11470 and during the session I managed to capture a flare - it is really obvious in the second of the series as a bright blob that fades over the next two images. The four images were taken from 12.30pm to 2pm. It was fun to see!

The other image is of the new Active Region 11476 - the black spot on the limb - this is quite a large sunspot and will be fun to see how it evolves.

Images taken with a DMK31, 2.5 Powermate through the Lunt60SS Hydrogen Alpha scope and processed in Registax.

I hope you enjoy.
