The channel mixer is a little tricky to use. You increase or decrease how much of a color can affect a channel R, G or B (i.e more red into the green or less blue into the red etc..). It's a great tool to mix or isolate colors and convert to monochrome. You might have seen this TV commercial of colour tiger running in a grey scale jungle. That's what it's for. But I don't use it in astro processing. Only maybe in some NB shots but I find curves and levels more intuitive for RGB.
