I recently acquired a Celestron 130-SLT, and also have the manual.
Appendix A of the manual informs that the 12v power supply only requires 750mA (which sounds about right, since it's only taking the place of the 8 AA batteries which last quite a while themselves).
Most small 12v adapters are 1.0A or 1.25A with a 2.1mm plug, and would work fine. I have a few of these spare (from modems/routers etc), and you're welcome to to pick one up if you live in Melbourne.
