I managed a Jaycar store for a few years and can tell you the GH1379 12v 5A power supply that Adam first linked to above is a great unit.
It was originally sold as an optional extra for a small Peltier cooled fridge, that's why the catalogue number is not the same as all the other power supplies Jaycar stock... 'G' = Gadgets. The fridge was discontinued many years ago, the supply is still stocked because it is so popular and you can't beat it for the price. Try finding another 5A supply for $30.
In my time at Jaycar I can only remember one of these coming back.
It still has the fridge connecter on the 12v end... I am sure upper management in head office is still scratching their heads why this thing sells so well when the fridge is long gone! haha

Seriously, I lost count how many of these I got back smelling of smoke.
I used to realy enjoy smashing them to bits before throwing them in the bin. Yes, some of them work, but I reckon the return rate on these would have to have been close to 30% or more.
Total crap.
