Thanks John. I have some problems with my obs positioning too, so know what you mean.
BTW, I continued to play around with the stacking, and found that using more APs (39 vs 17) and stacking more frames (3000 vs 2000) gave a much smoother UV channel. I've added the second image to the original post, I think it is an improvement.
