As per what others have asked, would be good to get a link to the hardware device you're trying to use and software (what planetarium program are you going to use, have you got EQMOD loaded, does it load but fail to connect?). Some screenshots might help on software side.
Once you get EQMOD going most people never use their hand controller again....
