For those of us who don't have a Celestron 8" Starhopper a photo of the problem might help the ATMers suggest a solution.

I am assuming that you need to either raise or lower the secondary holder? Can this be done by replacing a bolt with a longer/shorter bolt?

I built my own secondary holder out of timber...
