When we were at sea all our fresh water was produced by reverse osmosis using the heat of the engine exhaust system. never had any problems with it.
At home I always drink tap water even if it has "nasties" in it. The bodies imune system is designed to take care of this very quickly. Never touch bottled stuff. (Except as purified in the distilleries of Scotland).
