hehe, so librarian64 you went to the infamous zoomerang adders show at footy park (aami stadium these days - such a stirring name) that was the swirly wind show i was referring too - legendary!
I wasnt a big fan of U2 outside of their top 10 standout single tracks - like 'still havnt found' 'sunday ****** sunday'? ect till I was in some cover acts that tried to cover their songs much later on - and noticed how hard singers found to emulate bono's keys and singing. i realised whaat a special voice he has right then - he makes it sound so easy to sing in those registers and actually fools the ear into thinking that you could sing it that way yourself - he is just idling along on say 'still havent found' and makes it sound like he is singing it lower down the register - amazing! i think it is because of the complete lack of falsetto used - he makes high notes sound lower
I think tho without that amazing voice (and personality - but they go hand in hand) the rest of the band and most of the actual songs would be nothing special - just average stuff
