it depends on your skills with electronics, fabrication and the amount of time you're willing to spend on the mod.
the common mods are the mel bartels stepper mod that uses optical encoders and converts your Dob to a goto, But this is DOS based and needs an older laptop or similar.
other option is to use optical encoders and a microcontroller to calculate position based on encoder resolution and relay that as lx200 commands or responses.
the cheapest mod for push to rather than goto is printing a set of setting circles.
Richard, a user here, has come up with a vernier scale so push to accuracy is even better.
whilst goto is very convenient, it also can get cumbersome if your goto system needs to "learn" and improve its pointing accuracy.
the goto dobs these days are quite accurate, and not that expensive.
