Camping at the Dong

Lake Burrendong is a State Park situated around 20km's east of Wellington. We spent a week there over Christmas to escape the soggy Central Coast.

Wish I could have squeezed a scope in as the skies were pretty dark, I did have the bino's though and the first couple of nights were absolute crackers! It's amazing what you can find under a dark sky with bino's. Even had a impromptu sky tour with a group of mostly non-English speaking Chinese campers.

Its a good place to take the family with plenty to do. Particularly if you like fishing. Wellington Caves and Dubbo Zoo are a must see and not far away.

There are a couple of large open grassy camping areas down by the water away from the amenities and lights if you did bring a scope but, you would have to be self sufficient.
